Belarusian Parliamentary Chief, Algerian Leaders Forge New Ties
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune received Natalia Kochanova, President of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, in a meeting that underscored the deepening bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Belarus. The Belarusian official was accompanied by a delegation, and several Algerian government ministers were present, including the Minister of State for Inspection General, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Diplomatic Advisor to the President, and the Ministers of Health, Industry, and Agriculture.
Discussions during the presidential audience focused on developing new axes of cooperation across multiple sectors, specifically identifying agriculture, industry, education, health, and pharmaceuticals as key priorities. President Kochanova affirmed Belarus's readiness to advance cooperation in all areas, consistent with agreements reached during the Belarusian President's December 2025 visit to Algeria, which included a joint declaration on economic, commercial, scientific, and technical cooperation. Both nations expressed satisfaction with the growing dynamic of their relations, driven by the directives of their respective heads of state.
In a separate meeting, Council of the Nation President Azzouz Nasri also welcomed President Kochanova, where talks centered on the increasing momentum of Algeria-Belarus relations and the implementation of existing agreements. The leaders addressed international issues, explicitly reaffirming their shared commitment to peace, international law, and support for the Palestinian cause. Parliamentary cooperation was highlighted, with plans for friendship groups, exchange visits, and the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Algerian upper house and its Belarusian counterpart.
Further high-level discussions took place between Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb and President Kochanova, joined by Belarusian and Algerian ministerial officials. These engagements emphasized the necessity of redoubling efforts to materialize agreed-upon projects and explore additional cooperation prospects. The objective is to diversify collaborative domains, enhance investments, and increase the volume of trade between the two countries, building on the tangible progress already registered in various initiatives.
