Travelers Resume Vehicle Ferrying to Algerian Ports

Measures concerning the boarding of specific vehicles on ferries destined for Algeria have officially concluded. These restrictions, which were implemented by the Directorate General of Merchant Marine under the Ministry of Transport, were in effect from June 15 to September 15 during the summer season. Consequently, travelers can now resume their crossings with their vehicles, adhering to the standard regulations.

The seasonal limitations primarily impacted new vehicles or those less than three years old, which were purchased abroad and intended for entry through the ports of Algiers and Oran. Additionally, the boarding of vans on passenger and cargo ships was prohibited from all Algerian ports during this period. The directive aimed to ensure optimal reception conditions for members of the Algerian community residing abroad throughout the summer.

The Algerian company Nouris El Bahr Ferries confirmed the resumption of vehicle boarding in a social media announcement on September 16, stating that the summer restriction on new or under-three-year-old vehicles via Algiers and Oran ports has ended. This development allows travelers to plan their journeys with vehicles from this date forward, subject to applicable regulatory conditions, thereby supporting easier travel for the diaspora.
