Algeria will host the 13th edition of the African University Games in Oran in 2028, as announced by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This decision was made following the conclusion of the 12th edition of the Games, which took place in Cairo, Egypt.

The selection of Algeria to host this continental event, chosen from among several candidate countries, underscores the significant momentum within Algerian university sports. This dynamic was recently highlighted by Algeria's impressive performance at the Cairo games, where student-athletes secured 115 medals, including 41 gold, earning the nation second place in the continental medal standings.

Oran is set to welcome student-athletes from various African nations in 2028 for an event that will blend athletic competition with academic and cultural exchanges.
