Air Algérie’s Sixth A330neo Completes Initial Test Flight

The sixth Airbus A330neo destined for Air Algérie, registered as 7T-VJG, has successfully completed its first test flight, signaling a crucial step before its official delivery to the national airline. This initial flight is a standard procedure in the production and delivery process of new aircraft, designed to verify the aircraft's in-flight behavior and the optimal functioning of its various systems. While representing an important milestone as the aircraft leaves the ground for the first time as part of its test program, it precedes further technical and administrative operations required before its final reception and integration into the fleet.

The arrival of the 7T-VJG is an integral part of Air Algérie's extensive fleet renewal program, which has seen several A330neo aircraft already delivered. The first, named "Novembre 54," joined the fleet in November 2025, followed by "Ghar Djebilet" and "Yennayer" in January 2026, and "Djalia" in April. Additionally, "The Fennec," decorated in Algeria's national colors, was received in May and notably transported the national team during the World Cup in the United States.

Once officially delivered and integrated, this new A330-900neo will significantly enhance Air Algérie's long-haul capabilities, particularly strengthening its presence on high-demand international routes. This ongoing fleet modernization also includes plans for other aircraft types, such as Boeing 737 MAX 8s and ATR 72-600s, intended for its subsidiary Domestic Airlines, underscoring Air Algérie's commitment to expanding and upgrading its operational capacity.
