Industry Minister Kourtel Drives Automotive Plastic Component Localization

Minister of Industry Farid Kourtel presided over a meeting in Algiers with representatives from approved Algerian automotive manufacturing companies. The session, held at the ministry's headquarters and attended by central sector executives, focused on strategies to localize the production of plastic components and reinforce national industrial integration within the automotive sector.
This initiative aligns with the state's broader strategy aimed at establishing a fully integrated national automotive industry. Key objectives include increasing the rate of national integration, strengthening subcontracting opportunities, and expanding the local production base for both components and spare parts. During the meeting, Minister Kourtel specifically instructed the acceleration of coordination with General Plastic Injection (GPI), a company based in Tissemsilt and part of the ACS group, to ensure it can manufacture plastic components for all automotive factories. This plan requires manufacturers to supply the necessary molds to GPI to meet their local needs for these components.
In response, the participating operators committed to providing the required molds, which will enable GPI to commence the production of plastic components for their factories promptly. The Minister assured that his department's services would provide full support to facilitate the successful implementation of this process, thereby reinforcing national production capabilities and fostering an integrated national automotive industry.
