Minister Attaf Meets UN General Assembly President in New York

Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held talks with the President of the United Nations General Assembly, Khalilur Rahman, in New York. The meeting took place on the sidelines of Minister Attaf's participation in the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

During their discussions, Minister Attaf extended congratulations to Mr. Rahman on assuming the presidency of this important UN body. He further reiterated Algeria's steadfast support for the missions entrusted to the President, particularly in light of what was described as unprecedented campaigns impacting multilateral action.

The high-level exchange also underscored the significance of robust cooperation between the General Assembly and the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). This council is currently presided over by Algeria's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, Amar Benjama. The cooperation aims to promote international collaboration and expedite the realization of the UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, ensuring the protection of interests for all member states, especially those in the Global South.
