BOKS Secures Fiat Supply Contract in Aïn Témouchent
The automotive industry in Algeria has taken a new step in its structuring with the establishment of BOKS in Aïn Témouchent. The company has secured a major concession contract for the construction of a plant dedicated to manufacturing car body parts. This project is directly linked to the objectives of the Stellantis group, which includes Fiat Algeria, and aims to enhance the local integration rate while invigorating the national sub-contracting network. The decentralized one-stop shop in Aïn Témouchent officially granted a land concession contract to BOKS, facilitating the establishment of an advanced industrial unit specializing in the manufacturing, assembly, and production of automotive equipment and spare parts. The plant will be located in the Tamzoura industrial zone, a strategic hub in western Algeria.
The newly established facility will occupy approximately one hectare of land and is designed to meet the rigorous standards of international manufacturers. The project's ambition is reflected in its projected annual production capacity of three million units. Technically, BOKS plans to implement complex industrial processes, specifically the production of metallic car body parts through stamping and forming. This technology is crucial for the structural integrity and safety of vehicles. The local production of these substantial and structural components represents a notable advancement, as they constitute a significant portion of a vehicle's weight and value.
This investment follows a pivotal agreement signed last February between BOKS and Stellantis, making BOKS an official contracted supplier for the Fiat vehicle manufacturing plant in Algeria. This initiative aligns with Stellantis's strategy to cultivate a robust base of local suppliers, ensuring supply chain security and compliance with Algerian regulatory requirements.
