New Vehicle Buyers Secure Full Local Car Financing
Several major Algerian banks are now providing "Mourabaha" financing options for the acquisition of new vehicles that are either produced or assembled within Algeria. These offerings aim to facilitate car ownership for Algerian consumers while simultaneously bolstering the national automotive industry. The financing schemes vary across institutions, with some banks reportedly covering up to 100% of a vehicle's purchase price.
The Banque nationale d’Algérie (BNA) finances up to 90% of a new, locally produced vehicle's cost, with repayment periods extending up to 60 months. The BNA has committed to processing complete applications within five days. To enhance financing capacity, applicants may include the income of a "partner client," such as a spouse, direct ascendant, or descendant. The Banque de développement local (BDL), according to its June 2026 product page, offers financing up to 100% of the price, capped at 3.5 million Algerian Dinars, with an 8.5% margin. The Crédit populaire d’Algérie (CPA) also provides a "Mourabaha Véhicule" for new cars or motorcycles manufactured or assembled in Algeria. The Banque Extérieure d'Algérie (BEA) reportedly offers up to 90% financing over one to five years, with a fixed annual margin of 7.5%, as announced in January 2024.
Additionally, Al Baraka Bank of Algeria presents two "Mourabaha" automotive financing formulas, including a general offer named "Sayarat Al Baraka" and a partnership-based formula with Stellantis El Djazaïr. This includes an offering launched in February 2025 for the Doblo Panorama, produced at the Tafraoui factory, and a new offer with Stellantis for the Fiat Grande Panda announced in January 2026. These banking services operate within the regulatory framework of executive decree n° 15-114 of May 12, 2015, which restricts consumer credit to goods produced or assembled in Algeria for durations between three and sixty months. An inter-ministerial decree further mandates that eligible goods must be certified as locally produced or assembled by the manufacturer.
