Nation Council President Naceri Reaffirms Unwavering Palestine Support
The President of the Nation Council, Azzouz Naceri, received the Palestinian Ambassador to Algeria, Fayez Mahmoud Abu Aita, at the Council's headquarters for a courtesy visit. During their meeting, Algeria reaffirmed its unwavering and constant diplomatic support for the Palestinian cause, underscoring its fixed and consistent position across various levels of Algerian policy.
Mr. Naceri inquired about the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in the Gaza Strip, addressing the ongoing escalation and worsening humanitarian conditions that severely impact Palestinian civilians. He emphasized that the Palestinian cause consistently remains at the forefront of Algeria's concerns and diplomatic priorities. Mr. Naceri also acknowledged the official and popular Palestinian solidarity demonstrated towards Algeria following recent fires.
The discussions further highlighted Algeria's active role during its non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council, detailing intensive diplomatic efforts undertaken to cease aggression on Gaza, protect civilians, ensure humanitarian aid delivery, and advance the termination of occupation to realize the national rights of the Palestinian people. Algeria continues its endeavors to enhance the State of Palestine's status within the international framework, notably by chairing the committee dedicated to supporting its pursuit of full membership in the United Nations. The conditions of Palestinian prisoners were also addressed during the exchange.
For his part, the Palestinian Ambassador expressed profound appreciation for Algeria's steadfast and principled stances regarding the Palestinian cause, under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He lauded Algeria, encompassing both its leadership and people, for their continuous political support and consistent backing of the Palestinian people across various international forums, in resolute defense of their legitimate national rights. The Ambassador also touched upon preparations for the Palestinian legislative elections scheduled for November 28, 2026, and associated challenges amid current conditions.
