Foreign Passport Holders Gain Extended Visa-Free Entry to Algeria

Algeria has officially extended an exceptional measure allowing its citizens who hold valid foreign passports to enter and depart the national territory without requiring a prior visa. This provision, which aims to ensure the best possible care for members of the national community residing abroad, will remain in effect until December 31, 2026. The extension follows directives from the country's highest authorities, reflecting a continued commitment to facilitating travel for Algerians with dual nationality.

Under the conditions of this extended measure, Algerian citizens must present a valid foreign passport along with an Algerian biometric passport or an Algerian biometric and electronic national identity card (CNIBE). It is important to note that the Algerian biometric document remains valid for this purpose even if it has expired. Furthermore, travelers are required to use the identical set of travel documents for both their entry into and departure from the national territory.

Specific provisions are also in place for minors aged 15 and under who do not possess Algerian biometric documents. When traveling with their parents or legal guardians, these minors must be accompanied by civil status documents, such as a family record book or family civil status certificate, to confirm their relationship. In cases of guardianship, relevant documentation like a guardianship agreement or court order must be presented. For individuals whose identity on their foreign passport does not align with their national documents, additional evidence is required to confirm their identity.
