High-Level Meeting, Business Forum Set for Algeria-Spain October Dialogue

Ahmed Attaf, Algerian Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, held discussions with his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares, in New York. The meeting, held on the sidelines of UN proceedings, allowed both ministers to review the current state and future prospects for bilateral relations between Algeria and Spain. Both sides expressed shared satisfaction with the positive trajectory of cooperation, particularly highlighting the pivotal role of the energy sector, along with increasing trade exchanges and economic projects.

A key outcome of the discussion was the confirmation and preparation for a high-level Algerian-Spanish meeting, which is scheduled for October. This significant institutional event aims to solidify the ongoing positive phase in bilateral ties and to foster concrete commitments between the two governments. Complementing the political summit, a business forum will also take place, bringing together Algerian and Spanish economic operators. This forum is designed to identify shared projects and establish industrial partnerships, building on previous engagements such as a memorandum of understanding signed between CREA and Spanish business organizations for structured cross-investments.

Beyond bilateral matters, the ministers also addressed regional and international issues, including the situation in the Sahel region and recent developments in the Middle East. Both Attaf and Albares agreed on the necessity to deepen political dialogue and enhance development aid in the Sahel to promote regional stability. They further emphasized the importance of maintaining regular consultation and coordination on all matters of mutual interest, reflecting a shared commitment to a resilient Mediterranean partnership.
