New Walis, Secretaries-General Appointed for Local Governance

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has made a series of complementary appointments within the ranks of walis, delegated walis, and general secretaries of wilayas. These appointments, announced on Thursday by the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, were made in accordance with Article 92 of the Constitution, signifying continued adjustments to national governance structures.

Among the key appointments, Mr. Abdelkrim Bettioui has been named wali of Biskra, and Mr. Lakhdar Seddas has been appointed wali of Naâma. Additionally, Mr. Rabah Mourad Yeza assumes the role of delegated wali for the administrative district of Bouzaréah in Algiers, further strengthening local leadership within the capital region.

Several general secretaries were also appointed to various wilayas. These include Mr. Ahmed Kameche in Laghouat, Mr. Mourad Haddada in Batna, Mr. Mohamed Mehdi in Béjaïa, Mr. Idir Iken in Tiaret, and Mr. Djelloul Cheboui in Skikda. Concurrently, the functions of ten cadres serving as wilaya secretaries-general were terminated to facilitate their admission to retirement, underscoring a broader renewal of administrative personnel.

These comprehensive adjustments in administrative roles form part of the ongoing reorganization and renewal efforts targeting territorial administration officials throughout Algeria. The appointments aim to enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of public administration at the local level across the country.
