Algiers – Sonatrach’s CEO, Rachid Hachichi, along with his delegation, held important meetings with several energy companies during the “Gastech” World Energy Conference in Houston, USA. Among these companies was Italy’s Eni, according to a statement from the state-owned energy company.
The meetings, held on Wednesday, began with a session between Hachichi and Eni’s General Manager of Upstream Activities, Guido Brusco. Discussions focused on updates to the existing cooperation between Sonatrach and Eni, as well as future business and partnership prospects. Talks also covered the progress of current negotiations related to contracts involving fields such as In Salah, In Amenas, and Berkine.
Following this meeting, Sonatrach’s delegation met with Honeywell CEO, Vimal Kapur. The discussions centered on developing their existing partnership based on a 2022 memorandum of understanding. This agreement aims to modernize Sonatrach’s facilities by introducing the most effective technologies to reduce carbon emissions, enhance digitalization, and improve operational efficiency.
Later, Hachichi and his team held talks with Yokogawa CEO, Hitoshi Naga, and other executives from the Japanese company, which specializes in measurement instruments, automation, cybersecurity, and IT solutions. The Japanese side expressed a strong interest in increasing its involvement in Sonatrach’s projects, offering high-level expertise in their field.
The delegation also met with the CEO of Norwegian company Eka Finance, which focuses on gas and methane emission detection technologies. The company presented its model, which involves financing projects aimed at detecting gas emissions and recovering costs through carbon credit revenues.
Finally, the Sonatrach team held a meeting with Uniper of Germany, which expressed interest in purchasing natural gas from Sonatrach and establishing a mutual partnership in clean energy.
