The Secretary-General of the High Commission for Amazighity, Si El Hachemi Assad, announced today that the official celebrations for the Amazigh New Year (Yennayer) in January 2025 will be held in the Wilaya of Timimoun.
In a speech during his visit to the Wilaya of In Salah, Si El Hachemi stated that the Presidency of the Republic selected Timimoun to host the national and official events marking the Amazigh New Year, 2975-2025. The celebrations will also include the fifth edition of the President’s Prize for Amazigh Literature and Language, scheduled from January 10 to 12, 2025.
During his visit, the Secretary-General emphasized the importance of reinforcing national unity and fostering communication across all regions of Algeria, highlighting the necessity of integrating the Amazigh language into various national systems.
Additionally, Si El Hachemi announced that In Salah will serve as the launch site for the first digital platform dedicated to publishing scientific and creative works from the High Commission for Amazighity. This initiative aligns with President Tebboune’s directives to adopt digital transformation as a strategic priority for state institutions.
The platform will offer more than 340 titles, including 40 works from scientific conferences, 38 thematic dictionaries, 37 translations, 25 consultative works and studies, 115 literary pieces, and 40 award-winning works from the President’s Prize for Amazigh Literature and Language. Furthermore, it will feature 38 issues from two specialized magazines, with most articles in the Amazigh language.
