Memorial Held in Algiers for Hamas Leader Yahya Sinwar

Algiers – On Saturday afternoon, the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP) organized a memorial service in Algiers to honor the late leader of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, who was martyred in combat with Israeli occupation forces in Rafah, southern Gaza. The Gaza Strip has been subjected to relentless Israeli aggression since October 7, 2023.

The event was attended by Abd Al-Ali Hassani Cherif, the president of the MSP, along with other leaders of the movement, parliamentarians, civil society representatives, and members of the Palestinian Hamas movement.

In his speech, Hassani Cherif reaffirmed that Palestine remains a central cause for Algeria, emphasizing the immense sacrifices made by the Palestinian people, including the loss of key resistance leaders such as Yahya Sinwar.

Highlighting Algeria’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, he pointed out several achievements, notably the rejection of normalization with Israel and the resistance against the Judaization of Jerusalem. Cherif noted that Algeria serves as a model for Palestinians, having gained independence after 132 years of struggle against colonial occupation.

Azeddine Rentissi, Hamas’s representative for relations in Algeria, also paid tribute to Sinwar, describing him as a hero who “dedicated his life to Palestine and fought on its frontlines until his last breath.” Rentissi emphasized that Sinwar’s legacy would remain a symbol of resistance and courage for Palestinians.
