President Tebboune Calls for Faster Implementation of Cooperation Projects with Niger and Chad

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune stressed the importance of accelerating the implementation of bilateral cooperation agreements concluded with Niger and Chad, particularly projects related to electricity production.

Speaking during a Council of Ministers meeting on Sunday, President Tebboune said Algeria attaches the highest importance to completing the agreed projects as quickly as possible for the benefit of citizens in the two brotherly countries.

He emphasized that electricity-generation projects are among the main priorities of Algeria’s cooperation with Niger and Chad, as access to reliable energy is essential for economic growth, social development and improved living conditions.

President Tebboune explained that Algeria’s commitment reflects a shared determination among the three countries to establish a solid economic foundation capable of supporting strong development and attracting genuine investment.

According to the President, the planned projects are intended to serve the common interests of Algeria, Niger and Chad, while also contributing to the development and stability of the wider region.

He highlighted the importance of adopting an integrated approach based on cooperation, complementarity and the sharing of resources and expertise among the three countries.

This vision aims to develop sustainable partnerships that go beyond traditional forms of cooperation and lead to concrete projects with a direct impact on local populations.

During the meeting, President Tebboune instructed the Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs to supervise an intersectoral committee responsible for closely monitoring the implementation of the agreed cooperation projects.

The committee will be tasked with following progress on the ground, coordinating the work of the various sectors involved and ensuring that each project is completed within the established deadlines.

The President’s instructions reflect Algeria’s determination to transform bilateral agreements into practical achievements and strengthen its economic cooperation with neighbouring African countries.

Energy cooperation is expected to play a central role in this partnership, particularly as Niger and Chad seek to expand electricity access and support national development programmes.

Through these initiatives, Algeria aims to reinforce its relations with both countries and promote a model of regional cooperation based on solidarity, shared development and mutual benefit.

The measures also form part of Algeria’s wider strategy to deepen cooperation across Africa and contribute to stronger economic integration, stability and sustainable development in the Sahel region.
