Algiers – On Wednesday, Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zaitouni, visited the Baladna factory in Doha as part of his working visit to Qatar, according to a statement released by the ministry.
This visit falls within the framework of reinforcing economic and investment cooperation between Algeria and Qatar. Officials at the factory provided the minister with a detailed presentation on the technology used in production, the facility’s output capacity, and its role in meeting Qatar’s domestic market demands.
During the visit, Minister Zaitouni also received a comprehensive briefing on Baladna’s integrated project in Adrar, Algeria. He expressed his appreciation for the ambitious project, noting that it reflects the strong relationship between the two nations and constitutes a significant step toward enhancing economic cooperation.
The minister praised the advanced technologies employed at Baladna’s Doha factory, stating, “Algeria welcomes these investments as a testament to the robust economic ties between Algeria and Qatar, which have been further strengthened by the economic reforms initiated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune,” according to the same statement.
Commitment to Economic Partnerships and Trade Promotion
At the conclusion of his visit to the factory, Zaitouni emphasized Baladna’s essential role in advancing economic collaboration between the two countries and expressed his optimism about future fruitful partnerships.
As part of his itinerary, Minister Zaitouni also toured the Algerian Product Exhibition in Qatar, where he met representatives from the 150 participating Algerian companies. He commended the positive reception from both visitors and Qatari investors during the exhibition, which he had inaugurated on Tuesday. The minister highlighted that such events pave the way for new avenues of cooperation and partnership between business communities in Algeria and Qatar.
Zaitouni stressed the importance of direct sales opportunities, noting that they allow Qatari and foreign citizens to familiarize themselves with Algerian products and facilitate easier access to them.
He described the exhibition — the first of its kind in Qatar — as “a crucial step towards strengthening economic ties between Algeria and Qatar.” He also praised the collaborative efforts of Algerian and Qatari companies in fostering industrial and trade partnerships.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations and New Business Prospects
In an interview with Qatari media, Minister Zaitouni emphasized that the visit reflects “the strong will of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and His Highness Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to enhance the brotherly relations between the two nations.” He expressed confidence that this cooperation would witness “sustainable growth in the coming period.”
Additionally, Zaitouni presided over the opening of the Algerian-Qatari Business Forum held on the sidelines of the product exhibition.
During the forum, Kamel Moula, President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council, highlighted that the forum will help identify new sectors with promising cooperation opportunities and strengthen ties between economic operators in both countries. Moula also pointed to Algeria’s improving business environment, crediting structural reforms and ongoing efforts to diversify the national economy.
