Gaza – Early Friday morning, 28 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting the city of Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip. Local sources, cited by the Palestinian news agency WAFA, reported that the strike hit a residential house in the Al-Manara neighborhood of Khan Younis, claiming the lives of mostly women and children and leaving dozens more injured with varying degrees of wounds.
The attack occurred shortly after Israeli forces withdrew from southeastern Khan Younis, following a ground incursion under the cover of heavy aerial bombardments and intense artillery shelling, which caused extensive damage and casualties.
Escalation of the Genocidal War Against Gaza
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has continued its military campaign in Gaza, which has been described as a genocidal war. According to local sources, the ongoing assault has resulted in more than 143,000 dead and injured, with the majority being women and children. In addition, over 10,000 people remain missing, while the relentless bombardment has led to severe destruction, a humanitarian catastrophe, and widespread famine that has claimed the lives of dozens of children and elderly people.
The situation in Gaza has been condemned globally as one of the worst humanitarian disasters of recent times. Despite mounting international pressure, Israel has ignored UN Security Council resolutions demanding an immediate ceasefire and continues to disregard the International Court of Justice’s orders to halt acts of genocide.
