High Commission for Amazigh Language Showcases 20 New Titles at Algiers International Book Fair

Promoting Amazigh Language and Literature Through Expanded Publications

The High Commission for Amazigh Language (HCA) is set to participate in the 27th edition of the Algiers International Book Fair (SILA) from November 6 to 16 with a showcase of 20 new titles, reflecting its ongoing efforts to support and promote Amazigh-language publishing. According to a statement from the Commission, this initiative aims to bolster the presence of Amazigh authors in the literary world by offering them a platform to present and promote their works.

These 20 new titles bring the total number of publications sponsored by the HCA to 353, highlighting the Commission’s “innovative approach” in supporting joint publishing efforts with public and private publishers. The organization’s participation is designed to strengthen its network of partnerships, enabling broader reach for these works at national and international cultural events.

The HCA has also launched an important initiative, the digital platform “Adlis,” dedicated to the Amazigh language. This online library includes a comprehensive selection of materials published or co-published by the Commission, making it accessible to a wider audience. The platform features a diverse library, including 40 lectures and scientific articles, 38 thematic dictionaries, 37 translated works, 25 academic research publications, 115 literary pieces, 40 works that have won the Presidential Award for Amazigh Literature, and 38 issues of two specialized journals, with most content available in Amazigh.

The Algiers International Book Fair (SILA 2024), themed “We Read to Triumph,” opens on Wednesday at the Safex Exhibition Center in Algiers and runs under the patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The event, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of Algeria’s November 1 Revolution, will feature Qatar as the guest of honor.
