Occupied Jerusalem – Dozens of Israeli settlers stormed the courtyards of the revered Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem on Sunday, reportedly with the support of Israeli occupation forces, according to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA).
Local sources cited by WAFA report that groups of settlers entered Al-Aqsa through the Mughrabi Gate, conducting provocative tours and performing Talmudic rituals within the mosque’s courtyards.
Israeli occupation forces have maintained a restrictive blockade around Al-Aqsa Mosque since October 7, 2023, intensifying measures to limit access for Muslim worshippers. These restrictions include tightening security procedures at the mosque gates, erecting iron barricades, stopping incoming worshippers, and obstructing their entry.
Al-Aqsa Mosque faces regular incursions by Israeli settlers daily, except Fridays and Saturdays, with these provocations occurring in the morning and evening under the protection of occupation forces. Many Palestinians and international observers believe that these recurring actions aim to alter the status quo at Al-Aqsa, seeking to divide access to the holy site according to specific times.
