Gaza – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has issued an urgent appeal to the international community to act swiftly to save Palestinians in Gaza, where conditions have reached catastrophic levels due to the ongoing Israeli aggression.
In a press statement, ICRC spokesperson Hisham Mehna described the dire situation:
“Residents in Gaza are trapped in a relentless cycle of displacement, continuous bombardment, and deprivation of basic resources. Access to humanitarian services is perilously limited. There is a critical need for healthcare, with hospitals on the verge of collapse, while the harsh winter looms, threatening to bring even more suffering to hundreds of thousands left homeless.”
Escalating Crisis
Mehna emphasized the alarming spread of infectious diseases and the depletion of essential energy sources, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian crisis. He called for an immediate and coordinated international response to avert a full-scale disaster:
“The situation demands urgent intervention. It is the responsibility of all parties, including the occupying power, to ensure the survival of Palestinians.”
International Paralysis
Expressing deep regret over the lack of decisive global action, Mehna pointed to the absence of political will as a major impediment to addressing the crisis effectively. Despite numerous past efforts, the situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, leaving civilians unable to endure further suffering.
Mehna urged the international community to take meaningful action, highlighting the urgent need for a solution that restores hope for millions of Palestinians enduring unimaginable hardships.
