NEW YORK (United Nations) – United Nations spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric announced that Palestinians in northern Gaza are “fighting for survival” after enduring weeks of Zionist siege. Humanitarian rescue services in the besieged areas have been nonexistent for over 40 days.
According to the UN Information Center, Dujarric highlighted that relief efforts across Gaza face severe restrictions due to ongoing hostilities, particularly in Rafah and northern Gaza governorates. He emphasized that these limitations significantly hinder the delivery of food, medical supplies, and fuel, which are crucial for operating water wells and addressing the worsening humanitarian crisis.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that the Zionist entity allowed only one-third of the planned 129 humanitarian missions to Gaza last week. The remaining missions were either denied, delayed, or canceled due to alleged security or logistical reasons.
Additionally, OCHA confirmed that 40 families in the Nuseirat area of central Gaza lost their homes and belongings after a school being used as a shelter was bombed just two days ago. The attack resulted in the deaths of seven people, including two children.
In related developments, Dujarric underscored the dire need for adequate shelter to protect displaced Palestinians across Gaza from rain and cold.
He stressed that hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians living in temporary sites and damaged buildings urgently require shelter assistance. The ongoing siege in northern Gaza continues to exacerbate these needs.
For the 51st consecutive day, northern Gaza remains under siege, enduring starvation, relentless air and artillery strikes, and complete isolation from the rest of Gaza. Meanwhile, occupation forces persist in obstructing the operations of civil defense teams in northern Gaza through targeted attacks and continued aggression.
