Algiers – The “Safe Stadiums in Africa” conference, organized by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) in collaboration with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), began on Tuesday in Algiers. The event, which runs until Thursday, brings together key stakeholders involved in organizing sports events, according to a statement on the FAF’s official website.
During the opening ceremony, FAF Secretary-General Nadhir Bouznad welcomed attendees and highlighted the significance of the workshop, which aims to enhance the standards of sports competition organization in a secure environment aligned with international best practices.

The first day of the conference covered a range of critical issues, including:
- Challenges related to security and safety in African football.
- CAF regulations on matchday security and safety.
- Roles and responsibilities of CAF safety officers and their cooperation with club security officials.
- Player, official, and stadium staff protection.
- Accreditation processes and access control mechanisms.
Expert-Led Sessions
The workshop is led by two CAF experts, Maman Edi Al-Mustafa from Niger and Babacar Sene from Senegal, who are sharing their expertise on implementing effective safety protocols in African football.
This initiative reflects a broader commitment by CAF and its member federations to address ongoing safety concerns in African stadiums, ensuring a secure environment for players, officials, and fans alike.
