Algerian Special Envoy Ahmed Attaf Visits Luanda as a Representative of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune

Luanda, Angola – In his capacity as Special Envoy of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, arrived in Luanda, Angola’s capital, on Friday evening for an official visit, according to a statement issued by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties and African Coordination

The visit aims to bolster bilateral relations and enhance intergovernmental coordination on key continental issues. This comes at a pivotal time, as Angola prepares to assume the rotating presidency of the African Union in February 2025. The statement emphasized the strategic importance of Algeria-Angola relations in shaping Africa’s collective approach to challenges and opportunities.

High-Level Meetings and Diplomatic Engagement

During his stay, Mr. Attaf is expected to be received by Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, to whom he will deliver a personal letter from President Tebboune. The Algerian Minister will also hold a working session with his Angolan counterpart, Mr. Téte António. These discussions are anticipated to cover a wide range of topics, including regional security, economic cooperation, and the African Union’s agenda under Angola’s leadership.

This visit underscores Algeria’s commitment to fostering strong alliances within Africa and supporting the continent’s collective aspirations for development, stability, and integration.
