Ramallah, Palestine – The United Nations Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Mohannad Hadi, has expressed deep concern over the rapidly worsening security and humanitarian situation in Gaza, emphasizing the heavy toll borne by civilians amid ongoing aggression.
Civilians Bear the Brunt of Escalating Violence
In a statement reported by the Palestinian news agency WAFA on Friday, Mr. Hadi highlighted the devastating impact of recent Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. These attacks have resulted in numerous casualties, including women and children, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
He condemned the unacceptably unsafe conditions in Gaza, which continue to disrupt United Nations humanitarian aid deliveries, stating that such attacks undermine essential relief operations and threaten the survival of those in dire need.
UN’s Commitment to Gaza
Mr. Hadi reaffirmed the United Nations’ steadfast commitment to supporting the people of Gaza, stating, “We are working around the clock to deliver vital aid to families left with nothing after 14 months of aggression.”
He also called for the unhindered passage of humanitarian assistance and reiterated the necessity of protecting civilians.
A Call for Immediate Action
The UN Coordinator urged the international community to take urgent steps to end the atrocities, stating, “There is an urgent need for immediate action to achieve an end to the horrors and ensure a ceasefire.”
The United Nations remains resolute in its efforts to facilitate a cessation of hostilities and to address the dire humanitarian needs in Gaza, appealing for global support to restore safety, security, and dignity to the affected population.
