The National Gendarmerie in Algiers dismantled two organized transnational criminal networks involved in illicit drug trafficking yesterday, November 4, 2026, resulting in the arrest of 33 drug dealers, including a minor.
According to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense, the operation was carried out by members of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control Service, within the framework of the National Strategy for the Prevention of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, and as part of continued efforts to combat smuggling barons and illicit drug trafficking.
The operation led to the seizure of more than one million hallucinogenic pills, 30 kilograms of hard drugs (cocaine), 176 kilograms of processed cannabis, in addition to 21 utility vehicles and a sum of money estimated at 200 million centimes.
This high-quality operation once again confirms the determination of the People's National Army units, in all its components, to continue confronting, with firmness and resolve, the criminal networks active in smuggling and illicit trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances, and to intensify efforts to dismantle them and foil their plans, contributing to enhancing citizens' security and preserving the country's stability.
