Luanda, Angola – Ahmed Attaf, Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, was received by Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço during an official visit on behalf of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
As a special envoy, Attaf handed over a written message from President Tebboune to the Angolan leader, accompanied by expressions of fraternal greetings and aspirations to elevate the historic bonds of solidarity, cooperation, and fraternity between Algeria and Angola.
Renewed Momentum for Collaboration
According to a statement from the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting addressed various dimensions of the bilateral relationship and emphasized renewing momentum in preparation for high-level bilateral engagements. This aligns with the shared vision of the two nations’ leaders to enhance cooperation across numerous sectors.
African Union and Regional Coordination
The discussion also extended to critical issues on the African Union (AU) agenda. Attaf reaffirmed Algeria’s full support for Angola as it assumes the rotating presidency of the AU in February 2025. This underscores Algeria’s commitment to strengthening intra-African collaboration and advancing collective goals for peace and development on the continent.
This visit highlights the deep-rooted ties between Algeria and Angola and their mutual commitment to fostering stronger bilateral and continental partnerships.
