Experts: France Struggles to Accept Algeria’s Stability and Growing Influence

Date: December 15, 2024

Experts and analysts participating in the radio program Hissa Khassa on Algerian Radio 1 agreed that the current campaign targeting Algeria stems from foreign agendas aimed at destabilizing the country and tarnishing its image. They emphasized that Algeria’s unprecedented resurgence on the international stage, coupled with its robust economy and diplomatic strength, has unsettled some foreign powers, particularly France.

Sovereign Policies and National Cohesion

Political analyst Mohamed Ben Kherouf argued that Algeria’s recent achievements and sovereign political stances have made it a target of “vile conspiracies” aimed at undermining its stability. He attributed these attacks to Algeria’s moral values and independent policies, which serve as an inspiration to nations seeking freedom and sovereignty.

“France has not yet come to terms with Algeria’s current state of stability and strength,” Ben Kherouf said, adding that a “French lobby” is actively working to destabilize Algeria, viewing this as the only way to weaken the nation’s unity. He emphasized that Algeria’s territorial integrity, cohesive society, and strong military act as an impenetrable shield, transforming the country into a strategic power with pivotal influence in the Mediterranean, Africa, and the Arab world.

Algeria’s Strategic Role in a Changing World

Retired General Abdelaziz Mjahed, director of the National Institute for Comprehensive Strategic Studies, attributed the hostility toward Algeria to its unwavering defense of human rights and its resistance to Israel’s influence in Africa. He criticized France’s lingering colonial mindset, urging Paris to adapt to global changes and focus on addressing its internal social unrest rather than interfering in Algeria’s affairs.

Diplomatic Successes and Internal Solidarity

Dr. Bouhania Qawi highlighted Algeria’s remarkable diplomatic activity and stable domestic situation as key factors drawing international attention. Algeria’s successful partnerships with friendly nations, combined with the solidarity between its people and its military—an institution known for its discipline and unwavering loyalty to the nation—stand in stark contrast to the instability afflicting other countries in the region.

Qawi also referenced a recent security operation that exposed a French intelligence plot involving the recruitment of a young Algerian raised abroad. This, he noted, is not the first attempt by France to exploit vulnerabilities, driven by its recognition of Algeria’s status as a pivotal player in African and global affairs. He praised Algeria’s security services for their expertise in counterterrorism and organized crime, underscoring the country’s leadership in maintaining regional stability.

A Resilient Nation

The experts collectively asserted that Algeria’s growing strength, both domestically and internationally, has made it a target of enmity. However, they affirmed the resilience of Algeria’s institutions, the unity of its people, and the strategic importance of its role in Africa and the world.
