Kuala Lumpur – The Algerian national karate team, competing in the Deaf World Championship, achieved an impressive haul of four medals: two gold, one silver, and one bronze. The championship is taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from December 15 to 20, according to the Algerian Deaf Sports Federation.
The two gold medals were won by Youssef Hassani in the +84 kg category and Karah Haj in the -84 kg category.
In the women’s competition, Amani Qadra earned a silver medal in the -50 kg category, while Mohamed Al-Arabi secured a bronze medal in the -67 kg category.
The Algerian team is participating with a contingent of eight male athletes and one female athlete, under the guidance of national coach Idiri Zeidi.
This remarkable performance underscores Algeria’s strength and competitiveness on the international stage in karate for the deaf and hard of hearing.
