Algiers – The Algerian Agency for Investment Promotion (AAIP) announced plans to establish production hubs for school supplies, aiming to strengthen this vital sector. The announcement was made by AAIP Director-General Omar Rekach during his visit to the Algerian Production Exhibition at the Palais des Expositions, which runs from December 19 to 28.

In a press statement, Rekach emphasized that the agency’s focus is on creating dedicated production hubs for school supplies, noting that several companies in this sector have expressed a desire to expand their activities.

“This initiative aligns with the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which aim to achieve self-sufficiency in specific school supply products and reduce import costs in this sector,” Rekach stated. He further assured that the agency would support qualified companies from both the public and private sectors.

Strategic Goals

Rekach highlighted that AAIP is committed to assisting economic operators in meeting the country’s strategic priorities. The projects supported under this initiative are expected to:

  • Enhance industrial integration rates.
  • Generate employment opportunities.
  • Leverage modern technologies to ensure balanced economic development.

Key Visits and Insights

During his visit, Rekach explored various booths, including the stand of FABS, a company specializing in stationery and school supplies. He reviewed their expansion project aimed at producing one million ballpoint pens annually, among other products.

He also visited other sector leaders, such as:

The company has secured a 35-hectare plot to implement a three-phase project for producing raw materials for the paper industry, expected to create over 1,700 jobs by 2035.
