Title: Prime Minister Arabawi Reviews Workshop Progress at Government-Walis Meeting

Location: Algiers – Prime Minister Nadhir Arabawi, accompanied by the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Urban Development, Ibrahim Mourad, visited the International Conference Center “Abdelatif Rahal” on Tuesday to oversee the progress of workshops held during the Government-Walis meeting.

This two-day meeting, running from December 24-25 under the patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is held under the theme “Local Communities, the Engine of National Development.”


Workshop Topics and Objectives

The workshops are addressing key themes critical to Algeria’s development:

  1. Financial and Budgetary Mechanisms: Developing sustainable models for resource allocation.
  2. Food and Water Security: Enhancing strategies to secure essential resources.
  3. Local Economy and Digitization: Encouraging innovation and economic growth through digital transformation.
  4. Modernization of Public Services: Streamlining service delivery for citizens.
  5. Sustainable Urban Governance: Planning cities for a high-quality living environment.

Emphasis on Local Economic Development

While visiting the workshop focused on local economic development, Prime Minister Arabawi highlighted the importance of President Tebboune’s initiative to establish mini-industrial zones at the municipal level.

These zones, funded by the Local Authorities Solidarity and Guarantee Fund, are designed to:

  • Provide economic land for small project owners and startups.
  • Create employment opportunities for youth.
  • Stimulate local economic growth and development.

Arabawi emphasized that this program aligns with Algeria’s broader economic revitalization strategy, enhancing grassroots participation in national progress.


The Government-Walis meeting continues with discussions aiming to devise actionable strategies to address Algeria’s developmental priorities and improve citizens’ quality of life.
