Minister of Justice Oversees the Installation of National Committee for International Humanitarian Law

On Thursday, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Justice, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Lotfi Boujemaa, in his capacity as Chairman of the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law, presided over the installation of the committee members for their new term, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Justice.

The statement highlighted that the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law was established under Presidential Decree No. 08-163, dated June 4, 2008. This permanent advisory body comprises 24 members representing various ministries and national entities. Under the authority of the Minister of Justice, the committee is tasked with providing opinions and conducting studies on issues related to international humanitarian law.

The committee’s responsibilities include:

  • Promoting the implementation of international humanitarian law.
  • Organizing related meetings and forums.
  • Proposing adjustments to national laws to align with international humanitarian law.
  • Contributing to the dissemination and strengthening of legal awareness in this domain.
