Algiers – On Thursday, the National Union of Algerian Journalists and Media Professionals strongly condemned the continued targeting and killing of Palestinian journalists by the Israeli occupation forces. The union called on the international community, human rights organizations, and journalistic entities to unite in denouncing these systematic violations.

In its statement, the union condemned the assassination of the Al-Quds Today TV channel’s journalistic team, which was targeted “directly and with prior planning” while performing their professional duties. The union described this as a heinous crime that adds to the long list of brutal offenses committed by the Israeli occupation forces against journalists.

Press Freedom Under Attack

The union emphasized that the targeting of journalists and correspondents by the Israeli military is a clear indication of how much the occupying entity is disturbed by the work of independent journalism. The press exposes its criminal schemes to the global public. The statement continued, saying, “This new massacre is not an isolated incident but is part and parcel of Israel’s deliberate policy to exert pressure on the Palestinian people and their living forces, subjecting them to a reality of submission through brutal assaults, killings, and displacement.”

The union also called on the international community, human rights organizations, and media bodies to unite in condemning these systematic violations. It further stressed the need to put pressure on international bodies to hold war criminals accountable and ensure they face justice.
