Algiers – Minister of Finance Laaziz Faïd presided over the graduation ceremony for the 41st cohort of the Customs and Tax Economics Institute in Kolea (Tipaza) on Sunday. The event, which was attended by key dignitaries, marked another milestone in the institute’s rich legacy of cross-border collaboration and excellence in education.
A Legacy of Bilateral Cooperation
In his speech, Minister Faïd expressed pride in the institute’s achievements since its establishment in 1981 through a cooperative agreement between Algeria and Tunisia.
“This institute stands as a shining example of successful bilateral partnership, having trained over 1,800 professionals from Algeria and Tunisia across more than four decades,” he said.
Graduation Highlights
The ceremony celebrated the graduation of 64 students, including 15 from Tunisia and 49 from Algeria. Minister Faïd announced the imminent graduation of two additional cohorts in the coming months, reflecting the institute’s ongoing commitment to expanding its educational reach and impact.
Enhancing Institutional Capacity
The minister emphasized plans to strengthen the institute’s capabilities, broadening its focus to include the financial and banking sectors. He noted the institute’s pivotal role in the Ministry of Finance’s training strategy, particularly in the face of emerging challenges in the financial sector.
“We are committed to enhancing the quality of training programs, modernizing curricula, and aligning them with contemporary needs, such as information systems and public finance ethics,” he stated.
Pioneering Global Standards
To address future demands, the institute is undertaking several key initiatives:
- Adopting ISO 21001/900 standards for global training and qualification institutions.
- Restructuring pedagogical and administrative departments to clarify roles and responsibilities while fostering cooperation.
- Digitizing administrative, financial, and academic processes to boost efficiency.
- Introducing professional frameworks through detailed job descriptions.
Recognizing Excellence
The ceremony concluded with awards for outstanding students. Minister Faïd highlighted the essential role these graduates will play in enhancing the efficiency of financial institutions in both Algeria and Tunisia, contributing to comprehensive development goals.
