Algiers – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reaffirmed Algeria’s unwavering commitment to combating corruption, declaring that the state will persist in this fight “until the very last breath.” Speaking on Sunday before Parliament at the Palace of Nations in Algiers, he outlined key measures to restore public trust and strengthen governance.

Justice System Reforms

In his address to the nation, President Tebboune emphasized the significant changes introduced to Algeria’s judicial system. He stated:
“We have made changes in the judiciary to restore citizens’ trust in the state, establish the principle of separating wealth from politics, and fight corruption.”

These reforms, he noted, are part of a broader effort to ensure accountability and transparency within public institutions.

Strengthening Local Governance

President Tebboune also announced plans to revise local governance laws, a move aimed at building a true state of law and democracy. He said:
“We will begin revising laws governing local authorities to embark on the reconstruction of a state founded on justice and genuine democracy.”

A Continuing Mission

The President reaffirmed the government’s resolve in its anti-corruption efforts, highlighting it as a cornerstone of his administration’s agenda.
“We are still fighting corruption, and we will continue this battle until the very end,” he asserted.

This commitment underscores Algeria’s dedication to fostering trust between the government and its people by ensuring that corruption is addressed at every level.
