Djanet – The curtains have fallen on the 9th edition of the Cultural and Touristic Festival of Qasr El-Mizan in the city of Djanet. Organized under the theme “El-Mizan: Gateway to Civilization and Humanity,” the event concluded on Friday evening after a week of activities celebrating the region’s rich cultural and heritage diversity, according to organizers.
The festival featured a variety of activities and competitions that highlighted the area’s traditions and cultural identity. A traditional costume competition showcased authentic garments that reflected the region’s heritage, while the “Best Local Dish” contest presented an array of dishes, offering attendees, particularly international tourists, a chance to savor unique traditional flavors.
An exhibition of traditional crafts provided artisans with a platform to display and promote their creations. This exhibition was a focal point for introducing the audience to the artistic and cultural richness of local craftsmanship. In addition, heritage and sports games were organized, involving participants across various age groups.
The festival’s closing ceremony, held in the presence of local authorities, was marked by a festive atmosphere. Winners of the various competitions were honored, and the event concluded with a spectacular performance of the “Sbiba” dance, a celebrated traditional art form of the region.
The event, organized by local cultural and heritage associations, attracted significant attendance from international tourists. They were drawn to explore the local heritage through diverse activities, including artistic performances, craft exhibitions, and workshops that highlighted the cultural richness of the area.
