Tunisia Tour Highlights Algerian National Heritage Through ONCI Ballet
The Algerian Office National for Culture and Information (ONCI) Ballet is undertaking a cultural and artistic tour in Tunisia, operating under the patronage of Algeria's Ministry of Culture and Arts. This initiative aims to present various facets of Algeria's national heritage through its performances, aligning with a broader program focused on cultural encounters and exchange between nations. The tour's engagements have included significant participation in the 60th International Festival of Carthage, serving as a platform for Algerian artistic expression on an international stage.
The Algerian troupe recently commenced its participation by joining a parade of folk groups on Habib Bourguiba Avenue in Tunis, where traditional costumes, dances, and rhythms from various countries were prominently featured. Subsequently, the ONCI Ballet contributed to the "World Folk Dances" spectacle at the Ancient Theater as part of the Carthage Festival. This particular evening brought together ten artistic ensembles from diverse nations, including Libya, Egypt, Malta, Japan, India, and China, with each offering tableaux inspired by their respective cultural traditions. The Algerian artists presented performances deeply rooted in national heritage, giving particular attention to authentic traditional costumes, music, and choreographic expressions.
Beyond its appearances at Carthage, the ONCI Ballet's tour includes multiple other cultural and artistic engagements across Tunisia. Scheduled stops include Monastir, the Ksar Hellal Summer Festival, the International Festival of Mahdia, an artistic activity in Kalaat el-Andalous in Ariana, and the Tanweer Festival in Sfax.
