Joint Committee Established to Oversee Railway and Guided Transport Projects

Algiers – A joint committee was established on Sunday in Algiers to oversee the implementation, development, and maintenance of the railway network and guided transport projects. This initiative is a collaboration between the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, as stated by the Ministry of Transport.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Ministry of Transport headquarters, was supervised by the Minister of Transport, Mr. Saïd Sayoud. Attendees included the secretaries-general of both ministries, central administrative officials, the CEO of TRANSTEV (the national passenger transport group), the General Manager of the Algiers Metro Operating Company (SEMA), and managers from the National Railway Transport Company (SNTF) and the National Agency for Railway Studies and Investments Monitoring (ANESRIF).

In his address, the minister emphasized the importance of closely monitoring the progress of railway maintenance projects and all guided transport initiatives. He stressed the need for collective efforts and coordination between the two sectors to accelerate project timelines. Maintenance, he noted, is essential for preserving critical infrastructure.

Minister Sayoud also extended his gratitude to the project management teams for their significant contributions to realizing major railway projects across the country. He urged them to intensify their efforts to achieve set objectives, ensuring citizens have access to high-quality services while strengthening the national economy.
