Partnership Agreement Signed Between the High Commission for Amazighity and ONDA

The High Commission for Amazighity (HCA) signed a partnership agreement with the National Office for Copyright and Related Rights (ONDA) on Saturday evening in the province of Timimoun.

The signing ceremony took place at the Specialized Technological Institute for Agricultural Training as part of celebrations for the Amazigh New Year under the theme: “Yennayer… The Authenticity of a Victorious Algeria Woven by the Ksour of Gourara.”

According to statements from HCA officials, the agreement aims to promote Amazigh culture and ensure legal protection for various publications by the High Commission. It also seeks to raise awareness among Amazigh-speaking authors about their rights and encourage them to register with ONDA to safeguard their intellectual property.

The agreement further includes provisions for training HCA staff on intellectual property protection, reflecting its commitment to preserving cultural and creative works.

Si El Hachemi Assad, Secretary-General of the High Commission for Amazighity, emphasized that this initiative aligns with efforts to protect the intellectual property of creators across linguistic variations. He revealed that the HCA has published 380 titles to date and that it is time to secure these works.

“In 2024, we launched a digital platform to archive all these creative works,” Assad stated. “This agreement with ONDA serves as a precautionary measure to regulate and authenticate these efforts, especially in light of awarding the Presidential Prize.”

Additionally, the event saw the signing of a cooperation agreement between the municipalities of Timimoun and Akbou in Béjaïa Province, further strengthening regional partnerships.
