Coach Laazizi Praises Effort and National Talent

Badr-Eddine Laazizi, the coach of MC Algiers, expressed his pride in the team’s achievement:
“This championship marks the strongest start to the new term (2025–2028), as noted by all participants. Around 500 judokas, including 200 women, competed, including several Algerian African champions who returned after years of absence due to injuries, such as Salim Rebahi, who was sidelined for four years.”

He also emphasized that other clubs, such as Ouled El-Bahia Oran, Baba Hassen (Algiers), and Mansoura (Constantine), showcased strong performances during the tournament. “The athletes are motivated by the upcoming African Championship in Côte d’Ivoire in April and other key international competitions in 2026 and 2027 in Algeria. They are fully aware of the standards required to join the national team and represent Algeria honorably,” Laazizi added.

“The title is well-deserved,” Laazizi concluded. “It’s the result of rigorous training, with athletes putting in six hours of practice daily, except on Fridays.”

Five-Time National Champion Faeza Issahine Celebrates Victory

African Champion (2022) Faeza Issahine expressed her joy after securing her fifth national title:
“I am very happy with this victory. The national championship has a special flavor and is always filled with pressure. The final bout was tactical because I know my opponent well. In the end, experience was on my side, and it played a big role in my triumph.”

National Significance of the Championship

Ahmed Moussa, the national men’s coach, praised the tournament’s role in spotlighting new talent. He noted, “This championship has identified athletes who will represent Algeria at the upcoming African Championship in Côte d’Ivoire (April 25–28, 2025). The final matches were closely contested, with high levels of competitiveness, as most participants were well-acquainted with each other.” However, the event saw the absence of two key national team members, Kais Madther (-66 kg) and Idris Massoud (-73 kg), both sidelined due to injuries.
