Sonatrach Signs Cooperation Agreement with Algerian Customs on Training Programs

Algiers, January 25, 2025 – The Sonatrach Group signed a cooperation agreement with the Directorate General of Algerian Customs on Saturday in Algiers. The agreement entrusts the Algerian Petroleum Institute (API), a subsidiary of Sonatrach, with the task of training and qualifying Algerian customs personnel, according to a statement issued by the company.

The signing ceremony took place at the National Army Club during the celebration of International Customs Day, observed annually on January 26. The event was attended by several ministers and prominent figures from various national sectors.

The agreement was signed by Sonatrach’s Chairman and CEO, Rachid Hachichi, and the Director General of Customs, Major General Abdelhafid Bekhouch. The signing was overseen by Mohamed Arkab, Minister of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies, and Laaziz Faïd, Minister of Finance.

This initiative aims to “enhance cooperation between the two entities to develop human capital, strengthen the national economy, and improve the operational performance of customs personnel,” Sonatrach stated.

The strategic partnership underscores the commitment of both organizations to fostering national expertise. The Algerian Petroleum Institute will deliver specialized training programs, incorporating cutting-edge practices and technologies in resource and energy management. It will also provide customs personnel with technical skills aligned with contemporary challenges in their field.
