Algiers – President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, chaired a cabinet meeting on Sunday, March 9, 2025, as part of monitoring the implementation of development projects and national strategies. According to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic, the meeting addressed several presentations and files related to vital sectors of strategic importance for the country.
Railway Projects Among Key Discussion Points
One of the main topics discussed during the meeting was the transportation sector, with a presentation on the progress of the construction of the railway line connecting “Gara Djebilet” to “Bechar.” This project is considered one of the major initiatives aimed at strengthening transport infrastructure and facilitating connectivity between different regions of the country, particularly in the southern areas.
Additionally, preliminary studies for two other railway projects were reviewed:
- The railway line connecting “Laghouat” to “Tamanrasset.”
- The railway line linking “El Meniaa” to “Timimoun” and “Adrar.”
These projects are expected to play a crucial role in promoting economic growth and regional integration by improving access to remote areas and supporting trade and tourism.
Livestock Imports Ahead of Eid al-Adha
The cabinet also examined the possibility of importing livestock in preparation for the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday. This measure aims to ensure the availability of sufficient livestock to meet consumer demand during this important religious occasion, while also stabilizing market prices and supporting local farmers.
