Algiers – The voting process for the mid-term renewal of members of the Council of the Nation, which began on Sunday across provincial people’s assemblies nationwide, is continuing under good conditions, according to information from the National Independent Election Authority (ANIE).
The authority explained that the voting started at 8:00 AM in 101 polling stations distributed across 58 provinces. “All necessary material and human resources have been provided, including equipment, electoral documents, party and independent candidate observers, judicial supervisors, clerks, and coordinators at polling stations,” it stated.
The authority further noted that it is monitoring the electoral process through a “data center” located at its headquarters at the Palais des Nations in Club des Pins (Algiers), ensuring “transparency in the electoral process.”
Mouloud Ben Nacef, the provincial coordinator for the National Independent Election Authority in Algiers, told the Algerian Press Service (APS) that the voting is taking place under “strict organizational conditions” at the provincial people’s assembly headquarters. Twelve candidates are competing for one seat representing the province of Algiers as part of the mid-term renewal of elected members of the Council of the Nation.
Mr. Ben Nacef added that among the candidates are eight representing political parties, namely:
- National Liberation Front (FLN)
- National Construction Movement (MEN)
- National Accord Movement (MAN)
- Dignity Party
- Voice of the People Party
- Movement for the Society of Peace (MSP)
- Socialist Forces Front (FFS)
- National Struggle Front (FNN)
Additionally, four independent candidates are also in the running.
The spokesperson highlighted that the voting process, which will continue until 5:00 PM, is characterized by “meticulous organization under the supervision of judges,” which he described as “the greatest guarantee for both voters and candidates.”
This electoral process underscores Algeria’s commitment to ensuring transparency, fairness, and democratic participation in the renewal of its legislative institutions.
