Algiers, March 26, 2025 – Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui chaired a government meeting on Wednesday dedicated to the review of several draft legal texts and presentations related to key national sectors, according to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s office.
One of the main items on the agenda was the preliminary draft law on civil status, which has been enriched following President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s directives issued during the Council of Ministers meeting on April 21, 2024. The proposed law aims to modernize the national civil status database, simplify administrative procedures, and improve the quality of public services for Algerians both at home and abroad.
The government also examined a preliminary draft law amending Law No. 83-12, dated July 2, 1983, concerning retirement. The amendment includes new provisions to reduce the retirement age by three years for teachers across all levels in the national education sector. This measure reflects President Tebboune’s commitment to improving working conditions for educators.
In health, the government discussed a draft executive decree outlining a model agreement between social security institutions and authorized private health facilities offering radiotherapy treatments. This agreement is specifically aimed at enhancing medical care for children with cancer, in line with the President’s directives during his meeting with the National Committee for the Prevention and Fight Against Cancer.
Additionally, the government received a presentation on preparations for the 2025 Hajj season (1446H). The briefing detailed the inter-sectoral efforts to streamline procedures and ensure optimal travel and accommodation conditions for Algerian pilgrims, along with full support throughout their pilgrimage.
Lastly, the cabinet reviewed the findings of the 2024 General Agricultural Census, which provides vital updated data for the sector. These statistics will serve as a foundation for designing and implementing future public agricultural policies and for monitoring their execution.
This multi-sectoral session reflects Algeria’s steady progress under President Tebboune’s leadership, focused on modernization, social justice, and improving citizens’ quality of life.
