Algiers, March 26, 2025 – The People’s National Assembly announced today the appointment of former MPs, who previously initiated proposals related to the criminalization of colonialism, as honorary members of the special committee tasked with drafting the Colonial Crimes Law. This move is intended to draw on their experience and contributions to the national memory.

Following the formation of the special drafting committee, the Assembly invited former lawmakers who had previously advanced similar legislative proposals, acknowledging their historical engagement and honoring them by involving them in the current legislative process.
