Algiers – On Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi visited Djamaâ El-Djazair (Mosque of Algeria), where he was received by its rector, Sheikh Mohamed Mamoun El-Kacimi El-Hassani, according to a statement from the institution.
The statement noted that in his welcoming address, the rector outlined “key milestones in the Algerian people’s liberation struggle, highlighting the immense sacrifices made to reclaim independence and preserve Islamic identity against attempts at erasure and dilution.” He emphasized that “Djamaâ El-Djazair stands today as a beacon for reinforcing religious foundations under a unifying national religious reference, promoting moderation, centrism, and informed openness.”
The rector also praised “the Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for the central cause of the nation—Palestine,” noting that “Algeria, both leadership and people, has remained steadfast in its principled stance of supporting the Palestinian people, rooted in its historical principles and moral commitments,” the statement added.
For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed his profound admiration for the architectural and intellectual landmark that Djamaâ El-Djazair represents, commending its unifying civilizational and religious message. He conveyed “the Iranian people’s greetings and appreciation for Algeria’s glorious revolution and the sacrifices of its mujahideen and martyrs, who wrote epics of liberation and dignity,” according to the same source. http://dzwatch.dz
