Algiers – On Sunday, May 4, 2025, Algerian runner Moataz Abdulrazzak Sekkou became the second-fastest Algerian in the 400m race, clocking a time of 45.65 seconds during a university meet held at the Terry and Linda Fuller Track Complex in Lubbock, Texas (United States).

The best Algerian time in this event was set by Malik Louhla on August 4, 2001, at the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Canada. Completing the podium of the top three fastest Algerian 400m runners is Adam Hassini, who recorded a time of 45.63 seconds on September 7, 2003, in Amman, Jordan.

Sekkou, 24, is pursuing his studies in the United States, like many other Algerians, including the sisters Loubna and Afaf Ben Hadja, who have recently achieved notable results.
