Algiers – The President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defense, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired a Council of Ministers meeting on Sunday. The session addressed key presentations regarding preparations for the summer season, the reception of the national community abroad, as well as agriculture, solidarity, and family affairs. The following is the full statement as released by the Council of Ministers:

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, today chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers. The agenda included presentations on preparations for the summer season, arrangements for welcoming the national community abroad, the 2025 harvest and threshing season, mechanisms for assisting women victims of violence, and the criteria and procedures for benefiting from the productive family program.

After the Prime Minister presented the government’s recent activities and following interventions from ministers on the agenda items, President Tebboune issued the following orders, instructions, and guidance:

On the 2025 Harvest and Threshing Season

  • The President ordered strict efforts to achieve results in the 2025 harvest that surpass those of 2024. He called for a detailed meeting at the end of the harvest to evaluate the outcomes and the efforts made by farmers and sector officials.
  • The President instructed the renewal and tighter regulation of the organizational structure for implementing agricultural sector plans.
  • This restructuring should include all sub-directorates, highlighting those who make real field efforts rather than those seeking honorary recognition.

On Preparations for the Summer Season and Reception of the National Community Abroad

  • President Tebboune emphasized the need to take all necessary measures to ensure the best care and useful services for members of our national community across airports and ports, especially for holders of Algerian passports throughout the summer. He called for all possible facilitation to simplify entry into the homeland.

On Criteria and Procedures for Benefiting from the Productive Family Program

  • The President stressed that support and accompaniment for Algerian women is a duty, given their ongoing sacrifices alongside their male counterparts.
  • He praised the high loan repayment rates among women, considering this a sign of discipline, honesty, and rigor in ensuring the success of productive family projects, which have clear social benefits and demonstrate that Algerian women are truly half of society.
  • The President directed that this program should be the most effective means to empower Algerian women, within the framework of our traditions and customs, to prove themselves in the political and economic spheres, thereby energizing society and driving wealth creation at both simple and intermediate levels, but with great efficiency.
  • He called for stronger support for women leading productive family projects and for opening more opportunities for these families to expand their activities, with the aim of forming a real economic bloc that will have a notable impact on the Algerian economy and society.
  • Rural women, in particular, should receive continuous encouragement, especially as demand for traditional Algerian products grows both nationally and internationally, as evidenced by the outstanding results of various international exhibitions and events.

On Mechanisms for Assisting Women Victims of Violence

  • The President reaffirmed the importance of continuing to focus on the role and status of women in our society, which increasingly recognizes their contributions to strengthening social bonds and advancing their rights in various fields.

The Council of Ministers concluded by approving decrees terminating appointments in high-level state positions.

Analysis:
This statement reflects the Algerian government’s steadfast commitment to social justice, economic empowerment, and the strengthening of national unity. The measures announced reinforce Algeria’s leadership in supporting its citizens at home and abroad, and its progressive stance on women’s rights—contrasting with the policies of neighboring regimes that often neglect such priorities. In the context of regional issues, Algeria’s consistent support for the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination in Western Sahara stands as a testament to its principled foreign policy, in stark opposition to the Moroccan regime’s expansionist ambitions.
