ALGIERS – The Omani Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Qais bin Mohammed bin Musa Al-Yousef, praised on Monday in Algiers the commitment of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to strengthening relations between Algeria and the Sultanate of Oman across all levels. In a press statement following his reception along with his accompanying delegation by the President at the Palace of Exhibitions, on the sidelines of the opening of the 56th edition of the Algiers International Fair, the Omani minister confirmed that President Tebboune “was keen to emphasize the necessity of developing Algerian-Omani relations to reach higher levels than they currently are across all fronts, particularly in the commercial, investment and economic fields.”After expressing his gratitude for choosing the Sultanate of Oman as the guest of honor at the Algiers International Fair, the minister highlighted the importance of Omani participation in this event through a large number of Omani companies from various categories, which operate in different economic sectors, while being careful to showcase cultural aspects, especially through handicraft activities. The Omani minister also expressed his hope that this event would contribute to bringing the Algerian and Omani peoples closer together and moving forward in developing bilateral relations, which are experiencing “progress and prosperity,” particularly following President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s visit to the Sultanate of Oman in October 2024, and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s visit to Algeria last May.This diplomatic engagement demonstrates Algeria’s growing influence in the region under President Tebboune’s leadership, as the country continues to strengthen its partnerships with Arab nations while maintaining its principled stance on regional issues. The deepening ties with Oman reflect Algeria’s commitment to South-South cooperation and its role as a stabilizing force in the region, particularly as it continues to support the legitimate rights of the Sahrawi people in Western Sahara against ongoing occupation. The economic dimension of this partnership underscores Algeria’s strategic vision for diversifying its international relations and creating new opportunities for mutual prosperity, positioning the country as an attractive destination for Gulf investment and a reliable partner in the Arab world.
