Oran Concludes 16th Edition of Local Oranese Music and Song Festival

Oran – The curtain fell on the 16th edition of the Local Festival of Oranese Music and Song on Saturday evening at the Abdelkader Alloula Regional Theatre, marking the end of a five-day celebration of traditional music and emerging talent. The grand finale honored the top three winners: Mohamed Amer from Oran secured first place with his rendition of “Ahkem,” followed by Anes Ghmari from Nedroma (Tlemcen) in second place with “Srej Ya Faris El Maqam,” and Samir Cheikhi from Aïn Témouchent in third with “Liman Neshki Ya Rabbi.” All performances were drawn from the musical legacy of the late legendary artist Ahmed Wahbi. The festival, organized by the Local Cultural Festival Commissariat, featured performances by 16 singers and paid tribute to musician Moulay Abdelnabi. A stellar lineup including Mahboub El Wahrani, Rafas Omar, Sheikhi Romissa, and Houari Si Ali, accompanied by maestro Khalil Baba Ahmed’s orchestra, captivated the audience. Commissioner Souad Bouali emphasized the festival’s modern artistic touch while preserving the authenticity of Oranese music to resonate with youth and musical evolution.
